It usually takes a combination of factors to trigger an accident, including a dangerous object or substance, a susceptible child, and possibly environmental conditions that allow victim and danger to come together. In the case of accidents involving children, it may also hinge on the faltering vigilance, sometimes only for a moment, of a caregiver or parent. Electrical appliances, electrical wiring, fixtures and outlets can be hazardous to the safety of children if preventative measures are not taken.
Electrical Safety Tips
* Have Electrical Code Inspector to ensure that the electrical service in your facility and installation of any and all fixtures meet required codes and certification
* Cover all electrical outlets within reach of children with child resistant covers or caps and all unused outlets with safety plugs/shock stops
* Replace all frayed and overloaded electrical cords to meet standards
* All electrical cords are out of children's reach at all times
* Avoid using extension cords unless absolutely necessary
* All fixtures should be out of children's reach such as fans, lights, clocks, etc.
* Avoid using portable space heaters or electric space heaters
