Fire Safety Tips
* Install fire and smoke detectors as recommended by your local fire department.
* Test your detectors on a monthly basis to ensure that batteries are still working. Remember to replace the batteries every year. Choose a date that is easy to remember for future reference such as your birthday or Daylight Savings Time.
* Install and maintain enough A-B-C Type fire extinguishers to be in accordance with insurance requirements and fire department recommendations. Have instructions for their use posted on or near the extinguishers.
* Educate yourself and your employees on how to use fire extinguishers.
* Do not allow useless items to accumulate especially combustibles such as paint and cleaners
* Install chair and rope ladders at selected upper floor windows to facilitate escape.
* Hold fire drills periodically so that everyone who works in the child care facility knows how to escape quickly and safely in an emergency.
